Awards season is in full swing and I am guilty as charged of being totally captivated by it. I especially enjoy heartfelt and occasionally irreverent thank-you speeches (did anyone see Adele at the Golden Globes?). Whether we love or loathe the format, I think that most folks can agree there is something special about the way the personal, authentic moments make an event truly memorable.
As we look to the year ahead, how will you help your “stars” be authentic and personal while staying on message? It’s rare for unrehearsed speeches to go off perfectly. The majority of speakers appreciate talking points and guidance. Knowing how their remarks fit into the context of the overall program and messaging will also help your stars connect their own stories to your organization and hopefully inspire other guests to do the same. Successful moments in the spotlight make everyone feel red carpet worthy – if just for a night.
